Here at JacTravel we recently hosted a FAM Trip to Ireland alongside Tourism Ireland for some of our North American clients. The 8-day itinerary began in Dublin before heading through the Irish countryside to explore the west coast and ending up back in the lively capital.
Our tour included not only the country’s most visited attractions such as the Guinness Storehouse and Cliffs of Moher, but we also ventured off the beaten track for some lesser-known but equally incredible experiences. Here, the traveling group are sharing their personal highlights.

It’s almost impossible to pick just 1 or 2 highlights from our trip as there really were so many, but for me the Hawk Walk at Ashford Castle was the absolute highlight and life changing to me! It was so magical, I have experienced nothing like it in my life before!

A highlight for me was our stop at Inch Beach and our scenic drive around the Dingle peninsula. Stretching for several kilometres between the Dingle Peninsula and the Iveragh Peninsula in Country Kerry, Inch beach is backed by sand dunes and surrounded by some of Ireland’s tallest mountains. On the day we visited, the Autumn sun was shining, and it was incredibly quiet, perfect for a stroll on the soft white sand as the tide went out.

I truly enjoyed seeing sights in Ireland not on everyone’s highlight reel. The old abbeys and ruins, from the small one in Howth, to Kylemore, Clonmacnoise and finally the Rock of Cashel were spectacular to see. The breath-taking scenery of Ireland’s coast is something to behold however, the Falconry at Ashford Castle is now and probably always will be one the most amazing things I have ever done!

The trip was amazing especially because we had an amazing guide who gave us so much information about the country! The time we spent in Howth was really nice with the boat cruise out to Ireland’s Eye and our captain was full of tales. Of course, visiting the Cliffs of Moher was fabulous and all the beautiful landscapes that we saw throughout the week. I loved how everyone in Ireland was so nice and happy, it definitely makes you want to go back again!

Our tour of Ashford Castle was really interesting and somewhere I would definitely recommend. The castle has been carefully restored to an outstanding level of detail and offers exceptional service alongside its range of amenities and activities.

It was great to experience some of the more popular places for our clients, as well as some great hidden gems. One particularly memorable experience was the walking food tour in Dingle where they served local cuisine and shared the town’s history. We got to try seasonal sandwiches from a vegan café, freshly caught fish, homemade ice cream and much more.

I had a fabulous week in Ireland and the trip exceeded my expectations. Dublin is a fun city and Galway was charming with the lively streets and excellent food. Ashford Castle in Cong was dreamy, I felt like I was transformed back into medieval times and the scenery in the Village of Cong is gorgeous. The Falconry experience there was the highlight of this trip for me, one of the coolest things I have experienced in my life and something I would recommend to all my clients.

The scenery in Ireland is beautiful, and the memories made are wonderful. There was never a dull moment traveling with such a kind group of people. Throughout the trip, I would have to say the Hawk Walk at Ashford Castle was my favourite part. The guides and drivers were all very knowledgeable and helpful, and made the experience even better.
